Helenaren ametsak

Gau hartan ametsak zain zeuden, ilara batean. 
Ametsak ameslari bila, amestuak izan nahian, baina Helenak ezin guztiak amestu, ez zegoen modurik.

Amets ezezagun batek erregutu egin zion:
Amestu nazazu, on eginen dizu eta. Egizu nirekin amets, laket izanen duzu eta.
Eta zain zeuden amets berri batzuk ere, hark sekula amestu bakoak.

Baina Helenak ezagutzen zuen amets hura, beti bueltan zetorren;
baita ezagun zituen amets alai eta ilunak ere, gauez hegan egiten zueneko adiskide zaharrak.

They assumed the names of dead women artists and wore gorilla masks in public, concealing their identities and focusing on the issues rather than their personalities. " El africano" zein liburu ederra!

El africano, más que un momento de su infancia, narra la vida En África, dice Le Clézio, se respiraba una libertad que en ningún otro lugar se encuentra, una libertad salvaje, animal, sexuada, peligrosa, atractiva.
 Pero no sólo eso. Como Le Clézio fue concebido en África, tierra mágica si las hay, y concebido en un tiempo que según él estuvo lleno de amor, un tiempo que para sus padres significó felicidad pura, felicidad que truncó el viaje a Francia de la madre para parir en un hospital como la gente, él cree que algo de ese espíritu africano imposible de describir se metió en el óvulo de su progenitora, por lo que la pregunta que recorre todo el libro y que creo nunca se hace literalmente el autor es
 ¿Quién soy realmente? 
 ¿Un salvaje africano libre como el viento?
  ¿Un blanco burgués europeo explotador?  
Es esa la pregunta que justifica el librito —escrito en un mes, de diciembre de 2003 a enero de 2004, o sea que sabemos con bastante certeza en qué época Le Clézio sufrió esta duda existencial—, pero Le Clézio, como corresponde a todo buen escritor, no llega a contestarla. Lo que contesta en realidad es otra cosa. Contesta acerca de quién fue su padre. 

Le Clézio tiene mano de narrador, es uno de esos tipos avezados, cuenten lo que cuenten les sale bien. Así que poco importa que El africano parezca un libro hecho de taquito, cosa que es. Me lo imagino a Le Clézio diciendo bueno… me voy a escribir un libro… y le sale algo como El africano por el solo hecho de que se puso a recordar un momento de su infancia en África, lo mismo que hizo Coetzee, cuyo libro tal vez sea más redondo por el simple hecho de que partió de un plan, contar las diferentes etapas de su vida, la niñez, la adolescencia, lo que sigue .
Los títulos en inglés, por si a alguien le interesa, son Boyhood: Scenes from Provincial Life (1997) y Youth: Scenes from Provincial Life II (2002).
